BE - I too this photo at an outdoor book market in Paris. Through 2020, many have learned about being rather than doing as we've been in and out of quarantine, shutdowns, and lockdowns.  Exploring and adventure doesn't always mean traveling somewhere, join me as I blog and explore!

Hungary, Life Lessons

December 10, 2014

You think I would have learned by now…

Prayer changes things.  I’m beginning the next leg of a journey to Hungary.  I have watched my heart towards living a missional life in a country that is not Ukraine begin to change drastically.  Prayer has been the foundation of this twist in the road and will continue to be.  I’m currently on a plane to Budapest for a week long vision trip to see how God can use me in this beautiful city.

Today, I had asked a hand full of people to specifically pray for my baggage as I’m bringing lots of candy and books to leave in Budapest, and my luggage was well… overweight.  Well, God really answer prayers.  I prayerfully walked up to the baggage check, and put my bag on the scale.  “do you have some things you can take out of this bag, you’re a kilo overweight”… “of course I can shuffle some things, sir”  the woman next to him simply says “let it go” and with that I was thankful.  Little did I know it was going to get better than that.  You see, I had a 30 pound backpack full of books I was preparing to carry through 2 airports (with a second pack on my front).  Woman sees the bag and asks me to put it on the scale.  Anxiously, the weight is displayed, and would you believe she said “you’re going to have to check that” I WAS DEJECTED!  she saw it on my face, and said “don’t worry, you don’t have to pay”

WHAT A BLESSING.  I’m confident it was the prayers that helped me interact with this soft hearted woman.  As I walked through the airport with a light backpack, all I can think of is this verse:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

Has your burden ever been lightened?  How did you respond?  Who did you thank?
